Are you a passionate and knowledgeable History Teacher looking for an exciting opportunity within a successful Sixth Form environment?

We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic History KS5 Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school with a thriving Sixth Form in Perry Barr, Birmingham. This is a full-time, long-term position commencing at the start of the new academic year in September 2026, with the potential to become a permanent appointment for the right candidate.

Rated 'Good' by Ofsted, the school is recognised for its strong academic standards, positive learning culture and commitment to staff development. The leadership team is highly supportive, and the school offers an inclusive environment where both students and staff are encouraged to achieve their full potential.

Ideally, the school is looking for an experienced Teacher; however, applications from ECTs are welcome also.

The Role

  • Teaching History at Key Stage 5 within a successful Sixth Form setting
  • Planning and delivering engaging and challenging lessons that inspire a passion for History
  • Preparing students for A-Level History examinations and further study
  • Assessing, monitoring and tracking student progress to ensure excellent outcomes
  • Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic success
  • Contributing to the continued development of the Humanities department
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching and learning

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has experience teaching History within a secondary school setting
  • Has the ability and confidence to teach History at KS5
  • Demonstrates excellent subject knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject
  • Possesses strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Is committed to raising attainment and supporting student achievement
  • Has a positive and proactive approach to teaching and learning
  • ECTs are encouraged to apply
