Issued by: Supply Heroes Ltd.
This Modern Slavery Statement is made pursuant to the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps taken by Supply Heroes to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business and supply chains.
Our Business
Supply Heroes is a UK-based education recruitment agency supplying temporary, fixed-term, and permanent teaching and support staff to schools and educational institutions across the United Kingdom.
Our operations include candidate sourcing, vetting, safeguarding and compliance checks, placement management, payroll coordination for temporary workers, and ongoing support to schools and candidates.
Our supply chains include:
- Individual candidates seeking employment
- Umbrella payroll providers
- Background screening and identity-verification providers
- Training and professional development providers
- IT, marketing, and professional service suppliers
Our Commitment
We are committed to conducting business ethically, with integrity and transparency. We recognise the risk of modern slavery within labour supply chains, including temporary staffing, and we work actively to minimise any potential for exploitation.
We are committed to:
- Ensuring all workers placed in schools do so freely and are not subject to forced labour or exploitation.
- Conducting robust compliance and safeguarding checks at every stage of the recruitment process.
- Working only with suppliers and partners who meet our ethical standards.
- Promoting a culture of vigilance and openness in which concerns can be raised safely.
Policies in Relation to Slavery and Human Trafficking
Supply Heroes Ltd operates a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. Our commitment is supported by internal policies and procedures designed to prevent exploitation and promote ethical recruitment.
Our key policies include:
- Modern Slavery Policy
- Recruitment and Safeguarding Policy
- Supplier Code of Conduct
- Whistleblowing Policy
- Ethical Pay and Employment Practices
These policies outline expected standards of conduct, reporting mechanisms, and escalation procedures. All policies are reviewed periodically and updated as required to reflect changes in legislation, guidance, or identified risk.
Safeguarding and Candidate Welfare
Safeguarding children and vulnerable people is central to our work in education recruitment. Preventing exploitation—including modern slavery—is an integral part of our safeguarding duties.
We maintain regular welfare contact with our temporary workforce to:
- Ensure they understand their role, pay, and conditions
- Confirm workplaces remain safe, fair, and compliant
- Identify any signs of exploitation, unfair treatment, or financial abuse
Any safeguarding or welfare concerns are escalated immediately in line with our internal procedures.
Our Workforce, Supply Chain and Due Diligence
Given the nature of temporary labour supply, we recognise heightened vulnerability to unethical practices. To address this, we take active steps to confirm the legitimacy, right to work, and fair treatment of all individuals we engage with.
Our due diligence measures include:
- Identity verification, right-to-work checks, DBS checks, and reference verification
- Enhanced safeguarding screening for all candidates
- Due diligence on umbrella companies and key suppliers before engagement
- Use of an approved supplier list with defined compliance requirements
- Contractual obligations requiring suppliers to comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015
Risk Assessment and Management
We regularly assess risks within our business and supply chains, including:
- Temporary labour supply
- Use of umbrella payroll companies
- Recruitment of vulnerable or overseas workers
- Supplier and contractor relationships
Where risks are identified, enhanced due diligence, monitoring, and follow-up actions are undertaken. We also maintain open communication with candidates and schools to identify issues early.
Measuring Effectiveness
We measure the effectiveness of our approach through:
- Monitoring and reviewing any reported concerns or safeguarding issues
- Reviewing supplier compliance and approved supplier status
- Staff completion of compliance and safeguarding training
- Feedback and reviews from candidates and client schools, which inform ongoing improvements
To date, no instances of modern slavery or human trafficking have been identified within our business or supply chains.
Training and Awareness
All staff involved in recruitment, compliance, and onboarding receive training and guidance on:
- Recognising indicators of modern slavery and exploitation
- Conducting safe and compliant recruitment
- Safeguarding responsibilities within education settings
- Our obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015
Training is reviewed and updated as required to ensure continued awareness and compliance.
Reporting Concerns
Any concerns relating to potential exploitation, unethical behaviour, or signs of modern slavery can be reported directly to management or via our internal reporting process. We take all concerns seriously and act promptly where necessary.
Approval
This statement has been approved by the Directors of Supply Heroes and will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains effective, compliant, and aligned with best practice.
