Description
Supply Heroes are seeking a committed and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and challenging behaviour in a school based in Hall Green.
This is a highly rewarding role where you will provide tailored support to help the pupil engage in learning, develop positive behaviour strategies, and access the curriculum in a safe and supportive environment.
You will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to ensure consistent support and progress for the child you are working with.
Contract: Part-time, 4 days per week (20 hours)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN and behavioural needs
- Support engagement in learning and classroom activities
- Implement behaviour support strategies consistently
- Build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil
- Support emotional regulation and de-escalation when required
- Assist with personal development, confidence, and social skills
- Work closely with teaching staff and SENCO to follow individual plans
- Contribute to a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
- Patient, calm, and resilient when working with challenging behaviour
- Experienced in SEN, behaviour support, youth work, or school settings
- Able to build strong, positive relationships with children
- Confident in managing difficult situations using de-escalation strategies
- A good communicator and team player
- Flexible, proactive, and committed to supporting pupil progress
- Passionate about making a difference to children’s lives
