1:1 SEM Teaching Assistant – Hall Green, Birmingham

Supply Heroes are seeking a committed and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and challenging behaviour in a school based in Hall Green.

This is a highly rewarding role where you will provide tailored support to help the pupil engage in learning, develop positive behaviour strategies, and access the curriculum in a safe and supportive environment.

You will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to ensure consistent support and progress for the child you are working with.

Contract: Part-time, 4 days per week (20 hours)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN and behavioural needs
• Support engagement in learning and classroom activities
• Implement behaviour support strategies consistently
• Build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil
• Support emotional regulation and de-escalation when required
• Assist with personal development, confidence, and social skills
• Work closely with teaching staff and SENCO to follow individual plans
• Contribute to a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment

Ideal Candidate

• Patient, calm, and resilient when working with challenging behaviour
• Experienced in SEN, behaviour support, youth work, or school settings
• Able to build strong, positive relationships with children
• Confident in managing difficult situations using de-escalation strategies
• A good communicator and team player
• Flexible, proactive, and committed to supporting pupil progress
• Passionate about making a difference to children’s lives
