Supply Heroes are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive primary school in Alum Rock for a dedicated Year 5 Teacher to join their team from September 2026.
This is a full class teaching role within Upper Key Stage 2, taking responsibility for a Year 5 class and delivering engaging, challenging and well-structured lessons to prepare pupils for their transition into Year 6 and end-of-Key Stage assessments.
The successful candidate will be confident in delivering high-quality learning experiences that stretch and support pupils of all abilities, while maintaining a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.
You will be joining a school with a strong leadership team and a collaborative staff culture, where professional development and pupil success are both highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and delivering engaging Year 5 lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
- Supporting pupils’ progress across reading, writing and mathematics.
- Preparing pupils for end-of-KS2 expectations and assessments.
- Creating a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.
- Assessing, tracking and recording pupil progress accurately.
- Differentiating learning to meet a range of abilities and needs.
- Working closely with support staff, colleagues and parents.
- Attending staff meetings, training sessions and parents’ evenings.
- Contributing to the wider school community and ethos.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a motivated and passionate teacher who is confident in delivering high-quality KS2 teaching.
The successful candidate will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Have experience teaching within Key Stage 2 (ideally Upper KS2).
- Have a strong understanding of the National Curriculum and KS2 expectations.
- Be confident in preparing pupils for end-of-year assessments.
- Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills.
- Be organised, reflective and creative in their teaching practice.
- Be able to build strong relationships with pupils, staff and families.
- Be committed to ensuring every child reaches their full potential.
