Year 5 Class Teacher – Alum Rock, Birmingham

Supply Heroes are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive primary school in Alum Rock for a dedicated Year 5 Teacher to join their team from September 2026.

This is a full class teaching role within Upper Key Stage 2, taking responsibility for a Year 5 class and delivering engaging, challenging and well-structured lessons to prepare pupils for their transition into Year 6 and end-of-Key Stage assessments.

The successful candidate will be confident in delivering high-quality learning experiences that stretch and support pupils of all abilities, while maintaining a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering engaging Year 5 lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
• Supporting pupils’ progress across reading, writing and mathematics.
• Preparing pupils for end-of-KS2 expectations and assessments.
• Creating a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.
• Assessing, tracking and recording pupil progress accurately.
• Differentiating learning to meet a range of abilities and needs.
• Working closely with support staff, colleagues and parents.
• Attending staff meetings, training sessions and parents’ evenings.
• Contributing to the wider school community and ethos.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a motivated and passionate teacher who is confident in delivering high-quality KS2 teaching.

The successful candidate will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Have experience teaching within Key Stage 2 (ideally Upper KS2).
• Have a strong understanding of the National Curriculum and KS2 expectations.
• Be confident in preparing pupils for end-of-year assessments.
• Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills.
• Be organised, reflective and creative in their teaching practice.
• Be able to build strong relationships with pupils, staff and families.
• Be committed to ensuring every child reaches their full potential.
